NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mayor John Cooper’s office issued the following announcements regarding Metro’s citywide coronavirus (COVID-19) monitoring and response efforts in coordination with area hospitals, healthcare providers, medical colleges, and other community partners.
METRO PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Metro Public Health Department officials announced today a total number of 3,652 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nashville/Davidson County, an increase of 66 in the past 24 hours.
The confirmed cases range in age from 1 month to 99 years.
A total of thirty-five (35) people have died after a confirmed case of COVID-19. 1,887 individuals have recovered from the virus.
The MPHD COVID-19 Hotline received 72 calls on Saturday, May 9, 2020.

Health officials remind everyone to take steps to stop the spread of germs like COVID-19. These include:
- Practice social distancing as defined by the CDC (6 feet of distance from others). Do not gather in groups larger than 10.
- Wear a cloth face covering when in a community setting, especially in situations where you may be near people. These settings include grocery stores and pharmacies. These face coverings are not a substitute for social distancing.
- Stay at home, unless leaving your home is absolutely necessary because you have medical needs or are an essential worker.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

Number of Customers Restored: 131,018 since Sunday; 886 customers have been restored since 8:00 p.m. on 5/08/2020.
Number of Customers Without Power at Storm’s Peak: 131,709, due to the severe wind event that moved through the entire NES service area
NES experienced some technical difficulties today that affected the website and customer service phone line. This issue has not impacted crews in the field working to restore power. The outage reporting phone line is in service.
The remaining outages each impact between 1-100 customers. Most impact fewer than 10 customers.
Crews will continue to work 14-hour shifts, around the clock, until all power is restored.
